{"id":3936,"date":"2020-12-09T16:34:17","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T16:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thestorytraveller.co.uk\/blog\/?p=3936"},"modified":"2020-12-09T16:34:17","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T16:34:17","slug":"cartoon-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thestorytraveller.co.uk\/blog\/?p=3936","title":{"rendered":"Cartoon Time!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My Book Club meeting in December is usually an interesting extravaganza \u00a0in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Three Horseshoes<\/strong> <\/span>in <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Frampton<\/span><\/strong> it is old fashioned entertainment with a mix of music, poems and of course a story from the <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Story Traveller<\/strong><\/span>. I always enjoy the challenge of finding a new Christmas Story to tell. However because of circumstances we will stuck behind our computer screens for yet another virtual Book Club. This month instead of discussing a book we are all sharing a cartoon that means something to us. Looking forward to see each other&#8217;s choices.<\/p>\n<p>After much head scratching I will share my choice with you. I did of course consider the political cartoonist <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Steve Bell<\/strong> <\/span>who is quick to cut through the duplicity of politicians but with our current incompetent political leadership it is far to easy for him! Although his <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>If<\/strong> <strong>cartoons<\/strong><\/span> about the Falklands War and the jingoism that surrounded it were brilliant and almost got my vote.\u00a0\u00a0However my childhood \u00a0came flooding back to me after listening to a recent play on Radio 4 about <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Charles Schulz<\/span> <\/strong>agonising over to include an ethnic face in his <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Peanuts Cartoon Strip<\/span><\/strong>. It was moving listening to the reaction of African American GIs in Vietnam to that first strip with Franklin in. As children we used to squabble over who could read Peanuts first! I remember the paper one day being ripped as we grabbled and fought over it. So it is Peanuts Nostalgia for me tonight -I have researched quite a bit about Schulz.<\/p>\n<p>Guess what my quiz is today!<\/p>\n<p>My Grandson is called <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Owen David Church<\/span> <\/strong>and all is well and he looks gorgeous!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Quiz on Cartoons and Animations<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>a) What is the name of the little <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\"><strong>yellow bird<\/strong> <\/span>who is Snoopy&#8217;s companion ?\u00a0 b) What famous cartoon film would you see the characters <span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Thumper, Faline and Flower<\/span>?
