{"id":4799,"date":"2021-10-12T21:29:44","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T21:29:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thestorytraveller.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4799"},"modified":"2021-10-12T21:29:44","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T21:29:44","slug":"nightingale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thestorytraveller.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4799","title":{"rendered":"Nightingale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Delightful <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">evening<\/span><\/strong> at the <strong>Cheltenham Literature Festival.<\/strong> We saw two events starting with photographer <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Martin Parr<\/span> <\/strong>talking about his book <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>From the Pope to a Flat White<\/strong><\/span>&#8211; the book is photos taken in <strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\">Ireland<\/span><\/strong> from 1979 to 2019. Compelling listening to both how a photographer works and how Ireland has changed in that time,<\/p>\n<p>That was followed by listening to poets <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Simon Armitage<\/strong> <\/span>and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Sam Lee<\/strong><\/span> (also a well known folk musician) discussing environmental issues through a focus on the <strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">Nightingale.<\/span><\/strong> Both poets were erudite, thoughtful and superbly talented. Sam also sung a song that originated from Sussex. We ended up buying copies of both their books. <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Simon Armitage&#8217;s<\/span><\/strong> book is a translation from a medieval poem from Middle English of an argument between an <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Owl<\/strong> <\/span>and a Nightingale.
