St. Patrick’s Day Blog!

A subdued St. Patrick’s Day for obvious reasons. Have been fascinated by Ireland for a long time, it is a beautiful country and we have visited many times. One time I cycled from the West Coast to the East Coast and got quite wet! As a Story Teller I enjoy the many myths and have many Irish stories at my fingertips. Sadly the spectre of the famine and emigration still haunts the country. On that theme, one of my Desert Island Discs is the Ralph McTell song “The Setting” which I always find profoundly moving (have been known to have been in  tears when I listen to it being sung at a concert.

I had a ride today with a friend and like the Tour de France we had a crash. He was following me and managed to clip my back wheel. He went flying across the road. Amazingly considering the way he hit the ground he was only shaken up and bruised.

Today’s Quiz is of course on Ireland

a) What type of glass is Waterford famous for?   b) What is the name of Ireland’s National Theatre?  c) What is a bodhran?  d) What lies on top of an Irish Coffee?  e) What does the circle in the centre of the Celtic cross represent?
