Boats, Books and Story Telling

I mentioned briefly we had Book Club on Wednesday. Wonderful evening by the River Severn picture of the sunset below.

I mentioned I helped one of my fellow Bookies move his boat yesterday. Two pictures below – one is a Common Tern taken on my phone!

Finally I was Story Telling this morning at Wick Court and of course I am with Two Severn Bores this evening.

Tired and Weary

Short blog today. Just back from a tiring day helping a friend move his narrow boat in the Midlands. 27 consecutive locks was hard work and my muscles are aching!

Don’t forget tomorrow night the Two Severn Bores tomorrow at Quedgeley Library 6.30 performing Destiny or Fate.

Scorchio Yet Again

Fried today taking the young people from Clapham bird watching at Wick Court. Not surprisingly we didn’t see too many birds! Off to Book Club tonight right by the River- we are also swimming (not in the River!)

Also baked at cricket yesterday. Although we got well beaten by Wales yours truly pulled off a special catch. I dived (yes dived) full length to catch a one-handed catch that was hit with great power. My team mates were astonished! Talking of cricket looking forward to Friday and the start of the Ashes!

Of course the Two Severn Bores are performing at 6.30 at Quedgeley Library- please come along!

Back On It!!!!

You may be wondering where on earth The Story Traveller has been- we shot off to the Gower for a few days right after The Two Severn Bores Bristol gig. It was good to get away. Managed to finish my Book Club Book -we meet on Wednesday night. Saw plenty of birds – we stopped on the Gwent levels on our way out and WWT Llanelli today on our way back. What a scorcher today with high humidity ! Managed a decent ride on Saturday with plenty of climbing!

A couple of pictures taken on my phone below!

Should be blogging more regularly this week. Don’t forget the Two Severn Bores are at Quedgeley Library on Friday 6.30 start!

Away Day

I mentioned it was a busy time for me and that was an understatement!

Cricket was a disappointment our bowling didn’t really click and we allowed Worcestershire off the hook!

Had an action packed Wednesday doing my usual volunteering at Wick Court with old friends from Granton Primary School. I then rushed to Bristol to perform with Dan (the musical half of Two Severn Bores at Folk Tales. We performed 2 thirds of our Destiny or Fate show. We were delighted on how well it went.

Tired and Worn Out!!!!!

I said I was in a busy spell of Story Telling. Sunday was the Wick Court Open Day and I was Story Telling in four sessions with mixed audiences – I had to adapt accordingly! Over 400 people visited the farm and I had good sized numbers at each sessions ! I was exhausted with my efforts and as soon as I finished I pedalled home and then we set off to visit our Exeter family! We have just got back from looking after our delightful granddaughter Ellen– she is now 21 months old.

On Wednesday The Two Severn Bores are performing their Destiny or Fate show at Folk Tales in Bristol. Our next performance is at Quedgeley Library on Friday June 16th at 6.30 – we hope we can get a crowd for this!  We will also be performing the show again at Kingshill House on Friday 4th August.

Cricket tomorrow away against Worcestershire hoping we can bounce back from our indifferent performance last week.

Gigs, Gigs – A Busy Week!

Now half way through my run of Gigs – finished my sessions at Kingshill House. I always have to adapt to the audience and had to change my stories today because it was a much younger audience! I managed to cycle in and went onto an enjoyable lunch with Clare at The Old Spot.

The Two Severn Bores are rehearsing again tomorrow ahead of our gig on Wednesday at Folk Tales in Bristol. Below is a link to click on for our show at Quedgeley Library on Friday 16th June.

Destiny or Fate – Two Severn Bores (1)

The Story Traveller On The Road Again!!!!!

We will leave my football ramblings and concentrate on the Story Telling (makes a change)!

I was at Kingshill House today telling stories to young people and I am there again on Friday morning. On Sunday I am telling stories at the Wick Court Open Farm Day. You can visit Wick Court between 10 and 4- there will be tours of the house and you can walk around the farm, there will stalls and refreshments etc! Please come- I am doing four sessions 11.15, 12.15, !.15 and 2.15.

The Two Severn Bores are performing at Folk Tales in Bristol their first Destiny or Fate show – we are doing our final rehearsal on Saturday.

Have I Come Down off Cloud 9 Yet????

Today should be the last blog mentioning the wonderful events of Saturday. I have frequently been pinching myself to check I’ve not been dreaming. The Mighty Hatters story is remarkable-  a founder member of the Premier League but never played in it. Evicted from the league in 2009 and five years in non-league – a highlight did include being the first non-league to win away at Premier League team that included the current England captain! Now nine years on we are a Premier League team! What is amazing it has been done by being prudent with our budget. It is a good template for football- will be marvellous if we can compete next year by being sensible with the budget. A picture of me and Clare on our way into the stadium on Saturday- you can see many Hatters on the walkway behind us.

Dan and I had a good rehearsal this afternoon – our first performance of Fantasy or Fate is at Folk Tales in Bristol on the 7th June. Then it is Quedgeley Library on the 16th.

Cricket tomorrow is away to Buckinghamshire and my team has been depleted so hopefully we can compete.
